Gladman's Planning Appplication DA/2015/0233

You will be aware that Gladman Developments have applied to Daventry District Council for Outline Planning Permission to build an Estate of 120 new houses on land off the Watford Rd in Crick. Details of the Application can be obtained from the DDC website. The application number is DA/2015/0233. Crick Parish Council believe that this is a step too far in the expansion of the Village and should be opposed as vigorously as possible, and this stance was strongly supported at a Public Open Meeting held on Mon 13th April. If you agree, or not, with us we would urge you to write to the Planning Department at Daventry giving your views.

It is important that the reasons that you give for objecting are mainly based on Planning Law and Regulations and to that end we would suggest that you consider mentioning some of the following issues.

You need not reside in Crick to voice your opinion.

Please share with your contacts who may want to oppose the overdevelopment of this beautiful village.

Current housing developments mean key facilities of the Village (the Primary School, Medical Practice , available Meeting Rooms, etc.) will already be in an overcapacity situation. The Community cannot at present accommodate the extra demands of a further expansion in population.

The proposed entrance to the estate off the Watford Rd is at a point on that road which will incur considerable danger to vehicles entering and exiting the Estate.

The additional traffic into the centre of the Village from the Estate will greatly increase the existing traffic and parking problems at the Main Rd/High St/Church St Junction.

Under the Daventry 1996 Local Plan Crick was identified as a 'Limited Development Village'. With the already approved Housing developments the Village will have nearly doubled in size in 20 years. Any new housing was supposed to be within a defined Boundary. The Gladman development lies outside that Boundary.

The site is an important part of the open countryside around the Village and contains extensive Ancient Ridge and Furrow which should be preserved.

The housing will dominate the skyline, affecting important open views out of the Village.

The site is an important habitat for local flora and fauna.

The site is close to several of the 50 or so listed buildings that provide Crick with much of its Rural heritage.

Your Letters should be sent directly to Eamon McDowell, Planning Dept., Daventry District Council, Lodge Road, Daventry, NN11 4FP, quoting the Application no. above.
